Mark Michael Jacoby's second font inspired by Geoffroy Tory's "Champfleury" (1529): Torinus, featuring different weights and italics this time.

Torinus is the name of a humanist serif typeface created by Michael Jacoby, his second font inspired by Geoffroy Tory's “Champfleury” (1529) following Vitruvia Titling (2016). Whereas the latter typeface was a flared all-caps display face, Torinus has enhanced and extra features lilke proper serifs, lowercase letters & small caps in addition to capitals, both historical & modern ligatures, and punctuation marks. The font's name comes from the Latinized version of Geoffroy Tory's name, Godofredus Torinus.

The capitals are based upon Tory's original designs. The remaining characters were inspired by Adobe Garamond Pro, Centaur (particularly the diamond tittles in the i and j), and anothoer typeface called 1529 Champ Fleury, a rough-looking font based upon the original lettering used in Tory's actual book designed by Gilles LE Corre, with the Æ and the section symbol (§) being major inspirations from the latter font. The italics were also inspired by cursive writing to give the style a calligraphic look.

The final Torinus font can be used not just for displays and logotypes, but is also suitable for massive text bodies, like in a novel or book, a magazine article, or a brochure.
