Behold Michael Jacoby's self-initiated poster taking inspiration from Paul Rand and Plato, created in response to the results of the 2016 election.

In the days following the 2016 presidential election, many people thought that the main reason the result was surprising was because many citizens were living in their own political and social bubble and strictly avoiding outside viewpoints, influencing the result and the reaction to it. This concept brought to mind Plato’s “The Allegory of the Cave” from “The Republic,” which I first read as an assignment in my Intro to Philosophy class at Rutgers-Camden in Fall 2014. Consequently, I created this tabloid-sized poster portraying what Plato had described, along with the accompanying slogan.

I made the drawings myself using Photoshop and a Wacom tablet. This aspect was inspired by the work of Paul Rand, whenever he would feature a drawing of his on a piece, like a poster.
